YNPN LA Competency Model

Inspired by our friends at YNPN Triangle, YNPN LA has developed our own Competency Model -- a framework for defining the skill and knowledge requirements of a job, sector, or population -- which will guide our programmatic work in 2018 and beyond.

Why a Competency Model?

The goal of the YNPN LA Competency Model is to provide a universal set of skills and abilities that cut across our sector. By building on these core areas, YNPN LA will foster a more competent, confident, and connected community of emerging mission-driven professionals.

What are the Competencies?

The YNPN LA Competency Model is comprised of three knowledge pillars: Personal, Interpersonal, and ProfessionalEach pillar contains the skills and concepts which will be the focus of YNPN LA’s monthly professional development workshops and quarterly nonprofit forums.


Each month, local experts will facilitate workshops and/or forums at community-based locations. These interactive sessions will help attendees build on their existing strengths and learn new skills and competencies. All session themes will be relevant to veteran nonprofiteers and new professionals alike.
