As women of color in the nonprofit sector, we share and encounter common experiences from issues of representation to burnout. In this affinity group, we will build community and create a safe space for women who are driving change in our organizations and our world. During this first meeting, we will have a casual discussion about the vision and structure of the group so we can better understand how to support one another. Emotional Intelligence: The Key to Effective LeadershipIt's this simple: people with high emotional intelligence make better leaders. In the nonprofit sector, that means understanding what motivates ourselves and others, relating to others in a positive manner, and knowing how to build strong bonds in the workplace. It translates directly to higher performance and workplace satisfaction, more resilient and collaborative teams, and intuitive mentorship that leads to higher employee self-confidence and career advancements. Most importantly, EI leaders are aware of their own emotions and manage them in ways that get positive results for themselves and their staff.
