Nonmembers: Leading with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Julie Ha Truong of Envision Consulting
Nonprofits and foundations across the country are doing tremendous work advocating for social justice, promoting inclusion in our communities and opening doors for under-served populations. However, we aren’t always “walking the talk” within our own organizations to cultivate equitable and inclusive cultures.
As an executive search and leadership development firm in the social sector, Envision Consulting often hears clients ask, “How can we build a pipeline of diverse candidates?” and “How can we attract and recruit diverse board members?” They believe that those are the wrong questions. Instead, we should be asking, “How can we build a truly equitable and inclusive culture within our organization, so candidates from different backgrounds want to work and serve here – and then choose to stay because we live those values every single day in all of our actions across our organization?”
